BIO
While originally from La Vista, Nebraska (a suburb of Omaha), I attended the University of Wyoming and in May of 2011 I earned BA in English with minors in Graphic Design and Professional Writing. I am currently living and working in Denver, Colorado.
While I like to stay busy, during my free time I like to read, knit & crochet, cook, and create artwork. And even though I’m not athletic, I really enjoy tennis, biking, and the occasional climb into the wilderness.
wait…English?
Although I want to be a designer, I decided to major in English for my bachelor’s degree and I minored in graphic design. I find that the two sides of my education compliment each other and have given me a dynamic set of skills.
Not only do I get the perks of doing something I love, challenging material, and engaging coursework, but I believe that the English major has so many practical applications (don’t laugh!). English majors learn how to think differently, to analyze, and to communicate. Irreplaceable skills.
At the same time I’ve been fortunate enough to attend a conceptual design program. We are taught not just to make things “look pretty,” but to create meaningful design pieces that include nearly as much research as they do aesthetics. Anyone can learn how to use the design programs, but if you can’t be creative, innovative, and impact-full as a designer, your work will become irrelevant.
AVAILABILITY
I am happily employed and have a comfortable amount of clients, but I am willing to take on additional work for a really compelling project or client in the Denver area (or working remotely).
